Having a digital version of yourself means that you can project a photo-realistic, virtual alter-ego into any kind of digital content: movies, TV shows, video games, virtual worlds. It also means that the Web can go from being iconic and anonymous to being truly personal. As we like to say around here, what’s more personal than a digital reflection of you! And we’re not talking about any kind of avatar. This is a true life-like 3-D avatar (more of a digital clone) that is modeled after the actual geometry of your face.

What To Expect

What Big Stage does is empower anyone to create and project a free 3-D version of themselves across the digital landscape, from video to games and still images. We’re essentially enabling a shift in the way people express and represent themselves online. All it takes is one to three photos of your face uploaded to our website (www.bigstage.com), and you’ll soon meet your digital ‘self’ (called an @ctor) winking, blinking and smiling back at you. Just pick your favorite hairstyle, shirt and accessories to fully personalize this new digital alter-ego and get ready to play.

At this point, a new digital life form has been born. It’s like your daydreams come to life and the beginning of an entirely new personalized digital media experience. With BigStage.com as the hub to the evolving digital world, you can now project yourself into videos, photos, social networks and more.

Getting Started

There are three steps in getting started:

Step #1 = REGISTRATION     Click the red SIGN UP NOW button to create your Big Stage account. Be sure to pay attention to our system requirements.

From here, you’ll need to fill out the simple online form and SUBMIT.

Next, an email is sent to verify membership. This is an important requirement since you’ll need to open it and click the included link to officially activate your account. You’ll then be taken back to BigStage.com where you can login (now or later) using the same email address and password you signed up with. Congratulations!

Note: If you don’t receive a verification email within a few minutes of creating your Big Stage account, please check your junk folder. It could have landed there…

Step #2 = INSTALL THE BIG STAGE MEDIA PLAYER    To actually experience BigStage.com, you’ll need to install the Big Stage Media Player. This is a required step. Just follow the instructions during installation and you should be good to go. Will take several minutes to complete the process so be patient.

Step #3 = TAKE AND UPLOAD THREE PHOTOS OF YOUR FACE     This is potentially the only difficult step in the process. For best results, we recommend that you first watch the included video tutorial in its entirety and follow the instructions accurately. Highlights are below:

Key points to remember are that you’ll need to use a standard digital camera with flash turned on (no webcams please – they won’t work!). Also, better lighting will invariably help to create a better @ctor so try to take pictures with the benefit of good or natural light. Otherwise, be sure to remove anything that covers your face, including eyeglasses and pulling back any hair that may be covering your forehead, and keep a neutral face (don’t smile). Just three clicks and you are almost done.

From here, just transfer these images to your computer and upload them. It should only take about a minute to create your @ctor. Stand by!

Happy Birthday! Your @ctor has been born…

Go ahead and select from the host of hairstyles, hats, helmets, eyeglasses, shirts and even backgrounds. When you’ve found something you like, just click and it will appear on your @ctor. With accessories like hairstyles, hats, helmets and eyeglasses, just click again to remove.

Once you’ve found the combination you like, select SAVE TO MY @CTORS and your personalized @ctor will be officially saved to your account for easy access. Can be modified at any time so don’t worry if you missed trying on the snorkeling mask or cheese hat. They are still only a click away.

And if you want to save more than one @ctor to your account, that’s fine. We actually recommend creating a bunch! Just click MY @CTORS and CREATE A NEW @CTOR. The rest should be easy. Just be sure to set the one you want for ‘digital projection’ as your PROFILE @CTOR.

The Avatar Has Left The Island

What can you do with your @ctor? To start with, you can project it into photos, videos and more by clicking GET INTO IT on the vast selection of content at BigStage.com. There’s a fair amount to choose from with more being added weekly – so come back regularly! You can also take the personalized experience with you by sharing with friends via email or directly to your MySpace or Facebook. Just click the red SHARE button at the bottom of the media player and the rest is easy.
